Production Manager

Noonday Collection is looking to fill the full-time role of Production Manager who can support Noonday Collection’s global network of artisan business partners in meeting Noonday’s high standards of ethical and high quality product development.  At Noonday Collection we source and develop artisan handmade goods that utilize local and indigenous resources and are produced in accordance with rigorous Fair Trade practices.


Our ideal candidate is passionate for international development, experienced in empowering marginalized populations throughout the developing world, adept in business planning, and proven in his/her ability to overcome challenges to drive results. Direct experience in product development and artisan production or with fair trade suppliers is desired.


This position will report directly to the Director of Production and works collaboratively with the Production team as well as Noonday’s Design, Planning, and Operations teams.



  • Communicate with Noonday’s partner artisan groups on a daily basis in tracking the development, costing, and details of artisan-made product each season 
  • Track and measure artisan impact each season 
  • Ensure the required financial margin targets are achieved by working closely with the Noonday Design team, Director of Production, and the artisan partners to adjust materials and construction techniques to create unique designs that work for all stakeholders
  • Monitor, evaluate and support artisan business suppliers in the area of fair trade standards and best practices
  • Implement processes that help artisan businesses succeed at meeting the demands of the US market and work in a consultative style to ensure dialogue, understanding, agreement, and successful execution of policies and processes
  • Manage production milestone calendar to ensure timely delivery of samples, pre-production, TOPs and final delivery
  • Manage all product testing requirements across suppliers
  • Partner with artisan business partners on best practices of production planning
  • Communicate and coordinate seasonal purchase orders with artisan businesses to ensure confirmed upon deliveries are consistently met
  • Communicate regularly with artisan business partners regarding operational matters to ensure that the production process is on track according to the schedule and provide guidance to artisan partners to help problem solve when issues arise
  • In partnership with Design, confirm and communicate production specifications to artisan businesses for new development each season
  • Evaluate quality of new product each season, problem solve potential issues, and collaborate with artisan partners on possible solutions
  • Implement assessments and evaluations of the artisan businesses with which Noonday partners across the globe
  • Support marketing and creative efforts to tell accurate and compelling stories of the artisan partners, their artisans and product techniques
  • Assist in providing guidance and coordinating logistics for international trips sponsored by Noonday
  • Oversee strategic social-impact initiatives Noonday supports for our partner artisan groups and their communities 
  • Travel internationally up to 25%
  • Position is based at our Home Office in Austin, Texas



  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience working in multi-cultural or international setting
  • 2+ years of experience working in production
  • Ability to write and speak in Spanish strongly preferred



  • Exceptional communication skills, particularly culturally-sensitive and clear written communication skills
  • Knowledge of production management techniques
  • Excellent negotiation and collaboration skills
  • Ability to analyze situations from multiple angles and offer creative and innovative solutions
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and deadlines
  • Ability to manage cross functional projects
  • Ability to balance complex, competing responsibilities while under pressure
  • Genuine commitment to mutual relationships with artisans and Noonday’s goals and values



  • Experience coordinating artisanal production in a developing country
  • Understanding of the Fair Trade industry and supply chains in the developing world
  • Experience working in the jewelry industry
  • Technical knowledge associated with Noonday’s product materials
  • Previous attendance at a Noonday Collection Trunk Show
  • Demonstrated passion for helping the global poor through the use of your time, talents and resources
